Some countries have croissants, others prefer muffins or doughnuts. In the Czech Republic, we love our koláče (kolache). Yes, that wonderful, soft round pastry of yeasted dough with a bit of fruit, poppy seeds or sweetened cheese in the center is as Czech as it gets.
Shh, don’t tell grandma
Everyone’s grandma made the best koláče. But nobody made them better than our grandma! Which is why we have used her recipe, and her strict standards, to open our very own Kolacherie.
Like her, we only use all natural and locally sourced ingredients, and we made the whole thing from scratch without the use of preservatives, artificial sweeteners or palm oil.
Unlike her, the cultural purist, we like to experiment with new flavors. Which is why you shouldn’t tell her about our sausage and jalapeño koláče. She would be scandalized.
